For more than 60 dears the Iroul\u00e9guy wineries have been producing wines with character, ros\u00e9s, reds and white, in the image and likeness of the terroir. Particular mention should be made of the 13th century church with its three galleries and its Baroque style contemporary organ.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Prestigious gastronomy

From a gastronomical point of view, this valley is noted for having obtained \u00a03 of the 4 AOP<\/strong>\u00a0(Protected Designation of Origin) held by the Northern Basque Country<\/strong>. On the one hand, all the valley is part of the\u00a0AOP Ossau-Iraty, that certifies its sheep’s cheese<\/strong>. A cheese made by the producers in the area and which is entirely made with with milk from native sheepof the following breeds: black-headed \u2018Manex\u2019and red-headed \u2018Manex\u2019.<\/p>\n

For its part, the town of Aldude is noted for being the source of the\u00a0of AOP Kintoa ham<\/strong>, produced with a native breed of pig also known as \u2018Euskal Txerria\u2019. Finally, Baigorri is the seat of the cooperative winery\u00a0Irulegiko Arnoa<\/strong>.
